The strategic alliance between the Colombian Business Polytechnic, PEC, and the Comfenalco Valle delagente Family Compensation Fund gave rise to the new entity PEC delagente, with the firm purpose of providing training for work, based on a technical labor education service with high quality standards. This union has the experience of 20 years of the PEC and 63 years of Comfenalco Valle delagente, in which both organizations have managed to position a service oriented to the quality and well-being of its population for the benefit of the business community of Valle del Cauca.
During 2020, in the midst of a new and challenging environment due to the Covid-19 health emergency, approximately 16,000 enrolled in the different technical work programs, diplomas and continuous training courses were attended, becoming one of the institutions private education for work with greater coverage at the regional and national level.
This educational offer has brought benefits to the productive sector, its employees and families due to the various programs it has, as indicated by Jair Vanegas Páez, executive director of the PEC delagente, “We have travel and tourism agent, accounting and financial assistant, assistant in marketing, administrative assistant, port agent, commercial logistics, judicial investigation, national and international cuisine, among other programs of high relevance to the needs of the business community, delivering the best of human talent in the region ”.
In the midst of the pandemic last year, they could not stop in their purpose of training the Valle del Cauca residents, and they quickly adapted to virtual education, “It was a real challenge that fortunately we knew how to face and in the best way. The new methodology implied the commitment of the areas of education, technology and quality management, who in a united way worked as a team for the benefit of the students. Thanks to this commitment, we were able to strengthen our academic platforms and establish a new line of virtual training ”, says Vanegas.
Technical labor education in the country, as well as other training levels including university, had dropout rates and a drop in enrollment, particularly in the second semester of 2020. This impact was not relevant for the management of the PEC of the agent, achieving keep the indicators under control, and below the national average, which was approximately 56%. The entity assures that 2021 began in a great way, "Reaching similar figures before the pandemic, thus validating that the interest of our users in training for work and in continuing education is firm, and we consider that it will be high for this year", it indicates the executive director of the institution.
During 2021, the PEC delagente continues its commitment to the strategy of education with quality and well-being through its technical labor programs focused on improving the productivity of companies, “We continue with the same commitment of 2020, now with an alternation methodology that We will gradually return to face-to-face without forgetting that virtuality is here to stay, giving support to face-to-face training processes, ”says Jair Vanegas Páez.
The PEC delagente has offices in the north, center and south of Cali, Palmira, Buga, Cartago, Buenaventura and Popayán. The entity is affirmed as the opportunity to strengthen and enhance education for work and human development as a high impact service for society, in response to the needs of the business sector and the development of productive and / or entrepreneurial skills of the population, as a contribution to the competitiveness of the region and the country.
