The Comfenalco Valle delagente Compensation Fund has a new photovoltaic system for the generation of energy connected to the electricity grid located on the roof of Tower C, main headquarters on Calle 5 with Carrera 6 in Cali. This initiative manages to take advantage of the sun's energy to convert it into electrical energy in an innovative and sustainable way.
This project began in 2019, putting itself at the service of our organization in August of this year, reaching an investment that exceeds 365 million pesos. These solar panels have a useful life of 25 years, and according to the savings and cost benefit projections, this implementation will be recovered in an estimated time of nine (9) years.
The solar energy system has 243 panels located in 607 square meters of the terrace of Tower C of the Compensation Fund, they work in parallel with the traditional electrical network allowing the transformation of solar energy to alternating current, making it suitable for conventional consumption. This new source of energy It will supply the electricity for the entire air conditioning system of the 5-story building.
In the same way, this alternative of energy generation of Solar Photovoltaic System Connected to the Grid (SSFVCR), will be implemented before the end of this year 2020 in the Recreational and Sports Center Club Cañasgordas in Cali and at the Club La Rivera Sports and Recreation Center in Tuluá.
This option of energy obtained from the photovoltaic panels for these three Comfenalco Valle delagente headquarters is proposed as an alternative for saving, control and sustainable development, because it uses a renewable natural resource, decreasing the use of non-renewable hydroelectric energy source such as the conventional one for our country. In this way, this friendly system with our environment affirms the environmental and ecological commitment of the corporation. The production of energy by this renewable source depends on the solar radiation that occurs per day, but it is estimated that it produces 350 kilowatts per hour, and on an average day the emission of 6.95 tons of CO2 can be avoided by city air.
“At Comfenalco Valle delagente we continue to be committed to caring for the environment, therefore, we decided to strongly join the use of renewable energies, in order to reduce the depletion of natural resources in our operations, with the reduction of emissions of polluting substances in the atmosphere that contribute to the greenhouse effect ”indicated John Borrero, coordinator of Environmental Management of the organization.
These types of implementations are part of the actions that the Valle del Cauca Family Compensation Fund has been carrying out, as an alternative to achieve positive results from the transformation of processes that generate environmental impact, giving value to the sustainable development of the environment for the social benefit of its affiliates, families and other interest groups.
