  • This project created from Comfenalco Valle Delagente and promoted and financed during 2022 by Grupo Energía Bogotá, sought to strengthen the capacities for political advocacy and leadership of more than 100 young people from Valle del Cauca.

  • Free training managed to get more young people to take advantage of these educational spaces to strengthen their capacities and contribute to the transformation of their social and political realities.

100 young people from Valle del Cauca benefited from the “Oportunidades Delagente” Youth Leadership School through the Comfenalco Valle Delagente Family Compensation Fund and Grupo de Energía Bogotá. The participants received training, strengthened their knowledge and their potential as leaders and managers of positive changes in the region and the country.

From its beginning, and to date, young people from different municipalities of Valle del Cauca have graduated, such as:

  • 22 young people from grade 9-1 of the Buga Agricultural Educational Institution.
  • 13 young people from the municipality of Candelaria de la Plataforma and the Municipal Youth Council, as well as leaders from the districts of Brisas del Río Frayle, Cabuyal, El Carmelo and Villagorgona.
  • 18 young people from Tuluá from the Platform and the Municipal Youth Council and from the Educational Institution of the Corregimiento La Marina.
  • 14 young people from Andalusia from the Eleazar Libreros (urban area) and Campo Alegre (rural area) educational institutions.
  • 26 young people from the Simón Bolívar Educational Institution, Modín village in rural Cartago.

This leadership program, aimed at young people in the region, was carried out with financial resources from Grupo Energía Bogotá and the specialized human talent of Comfenalco Valle Delagente.

Erika Duque Betancur, a professional from the National and International Cooperation area of Comfenalco Valle Delagente highlighted that "during the youth training process, the program achieved aspects such as:

  • Promote the political influence of young people in formal decision-making spaces.
  • Strengthen their political participation in the different instances.
  • Promote personal and social changes in the young people who received support.
  • Qualify the intervention of young people in formal participation spaces such as the Local Administrative Boards (JAL) and Community Action Boards (where participatory budgets are formulated and implemented) and in the Youth Council, as a valid mechanism for dialogue and validation of issues concerning youth”.

Additionally, the professional indicated that this initiative within Comfenalco Valle Delagente was born as a way to ratify the commitment of the Family Compensation Fund with the social development of the region and, especially of the young people of Valle del Cauca, who seek to build with their direct participation, the appropriate responses to their social, economic and political situation in the department.
