Who benefits from the monetary family allowance?

The monetary family subsidy is a monetary benefit established by law for formal workers affiliated with Family Compensation Funds in Colombia.

It is a resource in money that is paid each month to workers who earn from one to four monthly legal minimum wages in force, and receive it for each of the dependents in their family group.

The beneficiaries of this subsidy are the members of the worker's primary family group:

  • Legitimate, natural, adoptive and stepchildren.
  • Orphan siblings of both parents, economically dependent on the worker for up to 18 years.
  • Parents of the worker over 60 years of age and who are economically dependent on the worker.
  • The beneficiary may receive the family subsidy in money as long as he does not receive any income, salary or pension.

What are the documents required to enroll the beneficiaries?

Children / Stepchildren:

  • Copy of the birth certificate to demonstrate kinship with the worker.
  • Copy of identity card (under 18 years of age).
  • Copy of the citizenship card or foreigner's card (over 18 years of age).
  • Sworn statement of the affiliation form, confirming whether or not he receives a family subsidy for the step-child(ies), by another Compensation Fund.
  • Original certificate of schooling for the current year, issued by an officially approved educational establishment (over 12 years of age).

Siblings (must be orphans of both parents):

  • Copy of the birth certificate of the worker and his brother, to demonstrate kinship.
  • Copy of identity card (under 18 years of age).
  • Copy of the citizenship card or foreigner's card (over 18 years of age).
  • Copy of the civil death records of both parents.
  • Sworn statement of the affiliation form, where it indicates the economic dependence of the brother.
  • Original certificate of schooling for the current year, issued by an officially approved educational establishment (over 12 years of age).

Parents (They must be economically dependent on the worker and not receive any salary, pension or income):

  • Copy of the worker's birth certificate to demonstrate kinship with the parents.
  • Copy of the citizenship card or immigration card.
  • Sworn statement of the affiliation form, indicating the financial dependence of the parent(s) and not receiving any salary, pension or income.
  • EPS affiliation certificate stating the type of affiliation as beneficiary of the worker.
  • If the father or mother is affiliated with the Subsidized Health Regime, they can be the worker's beneficiary and receive a monetary contribution.

Disabled Children, Step-Children, Siblings and Parents (No Age Limit):

  • Certificate of disability or reduced physical capacity that prevents them from working, issued by the competent entity.
